Toshiba HD from Laptop Ejects During Recovery Attempts

September 6th, 2014, 14:51

Hello, first post here…

Here's my situation:

I had a HP Laptop that crapped out, so I removed the Hard Drive (Toshiba HDD2E61). I have it hooked up now through an external adapter via USB. When I flip the power on, the drive shows up like it should (along with all its partitions as drives) … but only for a limited time. Like 3 minutes usually -- not enough time to do any recovering, searching or repairing.

I've attempted this on a PC and Mac, and it's the same thing every time… After a few minutes, the drive disappears and I get the standard "Drive removed without being properly ejected" spiel.

I have scoured the web and not found this issue for anyone. Any thoughts? Ideas? Answers?

Thanks!

Hi,
Plug it into the motherboard directly, the make a clone to a healthy drive in a non windows prog like ddrescue (linux) or media tools pro (dos).
