Are the hdd failing - help interpreting Victoria results

November 6th, 2014, 6:46

I'm helping my nephew with his laptop. One day win8 just wouldnt boot and just started the recovery application. But whatever option he tried recovery didnt work. Then it got worse, "Reboot and Select proper Boot device" .......

Initally after talking with Asus support and the retailer i suspected that it was software related but to be sure i booted from Hirens bootdisk and ran Victoria and i'm not sure what to make of the result. Unfortunatly i dont have access to the log file but the att. picture should do.

I'd actually prefer if the hdd is failing as hardware error is covered by the warranty whereas software error is not.

So whats your verdict, is the hdd failing and how accurate are the Victoria test? And should Asus service center accept the Victoria test result as "evidence"?
