Hi my desktop HDD Seagate 1TB stopped working all of a sudden and and stopped booting.
so removed from desktop to connect to my external 1TB Hdd's usb pcb board and plugged through USB to my laptop.
In laptop's disk management it shows just 3.88GB (unallocated space)
can any one help me out to solve the issue so i can get full space back to be use and also to recover my data out of my Hdd.
also attaching the sound of the Hdd which it is making when powered on.

The free service here is lousy, eh? No answers 3 minutes after you originally posted. I'd take my business elsewhere.

Okay, thanks for the clarification. I took them as expressing contempt and exasperation and assumed it was because nobody had replied yet. I'll let others reply, as I don't have the knowledge and experience to be of any use here.

More than likely, something happened when you were working on the computer and it could have corrupted the NTFS partition table on the drive. It sounds like the drive is physically working fien, but its very early to tell. the important thing is not to Format the drive or write anything to it.
You will need to look for a recovery program to recover or fix the damaged partition table. The best thing would probably take the drive to a recovery company. It should be cheep as its a simple recover of data with no damaged drive, but its too early to tell.

You didn't attach the sound file (or at least I can't see it on my iPad) so we can't tell if it's sounding healthy or not.
These drives behave like this if they have physical issues.

Agree with pcimage, showing 3.8GB capacity means the drive has some sort of internal problem and it's usually mechanical. But it could be something else too, so we need to hear the sound and if possible show us the terminal output of the drive on powerup.

It's a hardware issue, not software. Nothing you can do without special equipment will help, it will only make the situation worse.
Possibly the drive has a bad translator or something else wrong with it. You really should get it to a professional if the data is important.

Your power connector is fine, otherwise the drive wouldn't spin up.
Compress your .wav file to .rar and upload .rar file here.

Thanks guys and yes it is reading meadia error (head is not working) so just need to swap the head from another hdd if just the model match is sufficient to select a donor hdd
head damage was informed by me senior who was earlier into HDD recovery course Traineer.
December 10th, 2014, 21:50
he opened it and saw the head damage? or guessed?
December 11th, 2014, 0:33
heard the noice making from hdd and told its head issue and its grinding the platter so dont use it often trying to recover with applications or you will loose the data, better change the swap the head from working one or hand it over to a proffetional to do that is what is said
