ST3000DM001 firmware failure or not?

Hi guys,

this forum is awesome, but I haven't been able to find the information I was looking for.

I have a Seagate ST3000DM001 3TB HDD which is not recognized any more.

When I attach power to the drive, it spins up and sounds normally - heads moving after spin-up, but no clicking sounds.
The serial port gives me:

I wanted to try ctrl+z, but no response.
I disconnected the heads with some plastic between the connectors and the PCB, then the following happens:

Of course I searched the forum and the internet, but the only similay post was this one http://forum.hddguru.com/viewtopic.php?t=22217&f=1&start=0#p187190 with another drive and not exactly the same output. I hope anybody could help me diagnose my hdd.

Most probably, Bad PCB, bad Heads.

okay - can I try anything else to identify the problem?
@jono-ats: Would a new pcb solve this problem if it was the firmware or can I try anything else myself?
@pikus_09: Wouldn't I always get a FAIL message if it were the heads?

I don't think it's a PCB problem, so a replacement won't make any difference.

Sometimes this type of problem is a challenge for pros; I don't think it's very feasible for you to fix it yourself without the proper tools and lots of experience.

yes, but head can not find information on the servo, it is not the fault of the PCB, because if it was not started to drive. I checked on her a patient in.

I'm with Jono on this one. I haven't seen many DM drives with PCB issues, it's usually either bad heads or bad sectors in the SA (firmware). Might be fixable, but these drives are a nightmare even for professionals. Not likely a DIY case. I'd send it out to someone with more experience on these.

Agree with Jon, not PCB and it's not spinning down or clicking when powered up normally so heads are probably fine. Issue with firmware area most likely, not a DIY job.

Just out of curiosity - what exactly is called 'servo' in hdd terms?
Isn't it the motor which drives the heads? Like servos in RC cars or any other machines...?
Somehow I got the feeling you were talking of something else
