I have this drive which is not longer recognized by the bios. It crashed while in a laptop. I put the drive in a desktop and it was recognized intermittently by the bios but could never be accessed in Windows. The drive spins up but nothing else.
It does not appear to have an external eeprom. I have a blackcat usb jtag at my disposal if that would help to read the information from the pcb but I cannot find any direction on how to do this. The pcb version is 2061-701499-500AF.

PCB failure on this model is possible, but unlikely.
Odds are in favor of a heads or firmware issue.

+1 for fw or head(s)
Very very rare for a PCB to fail in this manner on this model, in fact I don't recall a single case with failing PCB and these symptoms.
