ST2000DM001 w/sticktion and damaged head. Damaged head was on top platter, bent it away from platter and then removed heads.
Close inspection of platter revealed absolutely no damage or marks.
After head swap, put in a dock on a Windows machine. Drive initialized and filesystem came up.
Removed from dock, attached to DeepSpar for imaging but would not become ready. Put back in dock on Windows PC and was not recognized as before.
I have SD tools--on this also would not come ready, stayed busy.
Swapped heads back to donor and donor still is fine.
The only head stack compatibility specs I didn't match perfectly are the FW (CC43 on P, CC44 on D), and site (SU on P, WU on D...but both China).
I AM able to execute terminal commands. Power-on terminal output below. Thanks for any insight!

That's SA problems.
As for why the drive stopped being identified, maybe the situation got worse because write adaptives didn't match. In that case heads read OK, but write junk. And single power on would be enough to kill part of an SA.

I wish I had helpful information for you. Shortly after the post, my customer informed me that they did not want to proceed with the recovery and that they had found the data backed up somewhere else.
Good luck!

Please note that OP isn't a home user.
The solution you're after is not DIY and targeted to recovering the data, not repairing the drive.
If you're looking to recover the data, we'll be glad to help. It isn't uncommon for us to work with drives from ex-USSR states, including Azerbaijan.
