Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hi,
I have a problem with Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 (ST3320620A).
Disk was working in my home PC for about 2-3 years, but suddenly one day something started to go wrong and disk made my PC freeze few times.
I have successfully backed up the most important data (fortunately!), but then decided to backup all the rest ( I had a lot of software installed so I wanted to make a sector copy of this hdd in order not to have to reinstall it all from the scratch - reinstallation would be a nightmare!).
Unfortunately this action did not succeed. During sector copy preparation the disk just died completely, and - after PC restart - is no longer detected by BIOS.
When powered up - disk platters start to spin normally, there is no strange clicking/buzzing (nor any other unusual sound), but it is not possible to detect the drive anymore.
I have bought RS232 disk terminal, and connected my HDD to the PC via terminal.
What I got is the following output:
---------------

4096k x 32 DRAM
GALAXY - 1_Disk S-6D 09-22-06_15:48
Buzz HM SFI

Could anybody give me some hint what to do to make the disk alive (detectable) again?
Is there any action I can perform from the terminal level in this case?
All I need to do is to make the sector copy of this drive. After this action drive can be rubbished.
I have read some threads about RS232 terminal, but I am not very familiar with terminal commands so would rather not try them on my own in order not to damage the drive further.
Any hint is more then welcome.
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Artur

Hi,
Thanks for the answer.
Could you please shed some light on this topic:

?
I will have access to HD Doctor for Seagate soon, so I will be glad to test this solution.
