Hey there,
Just did a head swap on an 80 GB Western Digital IDE Drive.
Patient drive is a good match, drive still clicking in the exact same way it was before head swap.
I have tried PCB/ROM swap but no difference
Does anyone have any suggestions please?
Thanks!

Could be SA damage which means it's a lost cause. Or you can try head swapping again. Sometimes the heads just aren't compatible, the micro jogs are too far off, or you damaged them in the swap.
Try putting them back in the donor drive to see if they still work.

Is this model one where head alignment is critically dependent upon the original cover/head-stack-mount-screw position?
