WD5000LPVX detected with partitions, then disappears

May 21st, 2015, 11:35

Hi,

Have a Western Digital Blue WD5000LPVX, 500 GB 2,5'' SATA hard drive, which after some shock has a strange behavior.

The drive spins and there is no bad noise.
The drive answers correctly the "fdisk -l", listing partitions.
But when trying to clone it with ddrescue, it becomes undetected after a few seconds.

Before a mechanical repair, I'm just wondering if there would be some trick to attempt for this model of drive. I assume that some anomaly like for instance excessive temperature could make the drive behave not as usual.
The purpose is of course not to save the drive, but the data.

need to diagnose properly,
it could be heads, FW, or typical slow problem

Well ,
Thats one reason i am suggesting a estimate and check by a pro .You have anyone in that country suggest him i have no idea buddy
