I tried with many devices, (pen drives and external hd, with different file systems), it was taking hours just to copy 20GB. (it's 500GB of data, more or less)

I don't understand what you mean by this. FAT32 can work with a 1TB drive, it's just that you need a non-Microsoft utility to format it.

The specs for your DVR state that it supports a network connection. Have you tried that?Backup Mode -- USB Device/Network/Internal SATA burner
