Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hi all,
A colleague came in with a portable hard disk that had stopped working. Naturally I opened it up and took the disk out, a Seagate Momentus 5400.6 250GB. I plugged it into a PC via SATA, and although it spins up nicely with no nasty noises (can't hear it seeking), it's not recognized in the BIOS. I'm thinking the likely culprit is the PCB, any thoughts?
Thanks,
Chris.

with the symptoms it is very unlikely a pcb problem.
could be FW, Bad Sector or weak heads.
terminal (TTL adapter) output will help further diagnose.

as MindMergepk, said probably FW, Heads or bad media, but TTL log needed for a better diagnostic.
