Hello,
I have timeouts problems with WD5000AAKX hard drive. It just freeze for few seconds and isn't responding for any requests (it seems like problem in controller hw/fw), after few seconds it gets restarted and this repeats few times in short period. After few repeats it usually gets back to working state.
This problem occurs mainly after few minutes when i turn-on computer, not after reboot. Or after computer wake ups from sleep. It occurs from time to time without no pattern but this two cases are often.
After reboot it works fine, but sometimes BIOS is unable to recognize HDD and i have to try rebooting it until he sees him. But when i get it working after that its usually for the rest of day working fine.
I have tried it with Windows 8 and 7 - same result. I was trying old SATA I WD HDD and its working fine so i guess no problem in sata controller.
I turned off write and even read cache but no result.
Reflowing control electronic - nothing either.
All tests by WD Diagnostic tool passed => no reports in s.m.a.r.t table and no dead sectors
I have tried different cables, connectors, BIOS settings,...
My motherboard is MSI B75A-G43 GAMING
Somebody any idea?
Also sorry for my "simple English".

If the two systems you tried it on (Win7 & Win8) are on the same platform, I would check the power supply and motherboard for swollen capacitors.

Might be an idea to check the reallocated sector count and general health with crystaldiskinfo
