Disable head PERMANANTLY - Seagate ST3000DM001

August 20th, 2015, 13:11

Hello,

Is there a way to disable a head permanently by a Terminal command for a Seagate HDD?

The 5 heads works fine (except for head3) and I want to re-use his drive (if possible).

Why? Once the one heads fails, it is just a matter of time before the others start crashing.

Not through commands AFAIK.
