Hello, would appreciate some help with figuring out how to recover data from my hdd.
Some info:

I have the same problem with this drive.

PC Bios will not detect Hd. Tried all the simple steps to revive it:

1. cleaned PCB contacts
2. StarTech IDE USB connector

I would really appreciate help. I have been researching on the web and the most likely problem is the firmware?
If so I would like to know how to fix it.
Pls let me know what path to take.
Thanks.

If you really need data - the only correct way is to take it to some DR lab

More info on my dead Samsung drive.
It spins but undetected in BIOS.
The condensers are fine on the PCB.

I understand these drives suffer from firmware problems and there are DIY solutions.
I am hoping someone will have the patience to provide some guidance.
Thanks.

Start by determining whether your drive is a Seagate or a Samsung.
