That's what I was told "deleted" or probably meant missing and handed the hdd only and the model of DVR.

if deleted = overwritten when the HDD are full then nothing you can do about it

i think Deleted in some type of DVR , when the client remove the HDD from DVR and connect it To PC and look to his footage , he decide to put the HDD back on to DVR thinking it will start recording from the moment that he removes the HDD ,Bingo DVR automatically Formats the HDD then .. the Data has been lost

DVR never formats auto. , it has to be done manually
@TerraNova
If data over-written, then this is a waste of time case.
IF part. was deleted ONLY , there is a chance of having it back.

sorry didn't mean it format automatically without asking the user to format , it will ask to format .... then Bingo

have many cases like this , the client didn't understand the format , he think its process to initialize the HDD in DVR

If the recordings were just deleted, but not overwritten (during the following usage), then we should be able to help.
"Something" you see is the target footage, DVR just stores it in a proprietary format. To recover the videos it will be necessary to develop a custom software, probably with a deeper manual analysis, as deletion could have affected the metadata.
I'll be happy to help remotely, please check your PM.

That's a frequent data loss scenario with DVRs, but things happen vice versa -- drive is usually initialized in Windows and CCTV system cannot recognize it afterwards.
