NOT DIY, if you have important files in that drive send it to a PRO Datarecovery company, at this stage it MIGHT be cheap.

define cheap? To me 50$, 100$, maybe 200$ is cheap... what's cheap for you?

I wanted to try my hand and saving the data, as a test to see how far I can go.

so v1 gives me this:

from what I gather, nonresident Glist shouldn't return 0 entries
I have tons on time on my hands, to read and carefully experiment...

Regening the translator with m0,6,3,,,,,22 and then cloning the drive like this :

Assuming of course that the drive didn't have non-resident G-List entries to start with.

If there were entries there the the Translator is now shifted and it have to be fixed either by hand or by the use of fork method on PC-3000 or SD Seagate tool, etc ...

Also if the drive have huge amount of bad blocks it will be near to impossible to clone without a decent hardware based cloning tool.

May be case is not DIY definatly sakeo did the translator reading the some forums without the dealing it properly he is stuck in to the more issue. and if he did the fork or like method and half of the way he tired and did the translator again that mean multiple time translator regenerated with new nglist entery that he did this way many correct and non correct addresing in to the account. and when this happends no any hardware can do the direct job if u wait 1 2 3 4 7 days or months. only manualy we need to correct it to fix the issue.
