Old Wine in New Bottle ACELAB UDMA RED Card VS Dolphine

October 2nd, 2015, 1:42

Hi all
I know this topic has been discussed a lot ,but it is crucial in my upgrade plan.
I want to know hows Dolphine lab tools as compare to ace udma.
Recently I saw Demo of dolphin lab , it is having more automated modules while ace has more manual options.

My green udma is needed to upgrade to Red card , at the same time I am confused by claims of both vendors . There is fear of dolphin that it may vanish like salvationdata. Besides stability of the suite. It can be used in non critical cases. I want to know hows there imager & Data extractor is ,
If someone who has both units could narrate his experience that may help many users.

I have DFL-DDP USB 3.0 (as well as other DFL products) but not an Ace product with which to compare it/them. The DDP is very good, but at $3,300 USD, it's not cheap. It's also not perfect, but Dolphin are continually updating their programs and products and bugs are slowly being corrected and enhancements added. I'd say their quality control over sofware development/fixes leaves something to be desired, but they do try hard and are committed to eventually getting things right. Their forum is active but they do tend to be slow responding to some requests for help, as is ACE.

The licensing terms allow you to sell their products without problem and the new user inherits access to the forum and updates. Updates are free for three years but cost something like $300 after that. I don't know if that renewal is for another three years, but I would expect so.

The DDP and their FRP firmware repair tool have been integrated into the SRP, but that just packages them into one tool--the updates to the SRP work perfectly well in the DDP and FRP as well. I prefer to keep the sparate products, rather than risk losing access to all the integrated tools should there be a hardware problem with the SRP.

Dolphin's tools are designed for DR novices (like me) and they provide a lot of very helpful videos and PDF documents to assist in putting the tools to effective use. They also offer to remote in with TV to fix a number of problems for each user, but I'm not sure how many such sessions are included per month. Some have complained that they haven't been as available as they would like them to be.

I hope that helps.

It isn't a new decanter that makes mature wine better.

I'd go ahead with ACE Lab. We do not have any Dolphin products, but I do not recall someone "upgrading" from PC-3000 to Dolphin tools, while vice versa is a popular direction to grow.

Hi Amarbir,

Since you have ACE UDMA+DE, DDP and MRT, a comparison of their features, cost and strength/weaknesses based on your experience would be very welcome.

Cheers!

Mr Larry ,
The Learning Curve of UDMA is High .It Generally Takes 3 Months Min To Grasp The Tool To Its 25% to 50% Potential .And Another Few Months For 50% To 75% .From 75% To 100% Might Take A Year .But Once You Have UDMA You Will Stop Comparing The Tools [ Its Not Even Worth Comparison ]

PS : Next Inline Are 2 Units Deepspar , 1 Unit PC 3000 SAS/SCSI + DE , Rusolet And Softcenter , Updating My PC 3000 Flash And DFL URE If I Really Need It [ Though i Doubt I Do ] . Cleanroom Setup Order Is Already Given As You Know On DFL Forums
