Yes, these aren't exactly cross compatible. Only a few guys in the world supposedly know how to rebuild a lost ROM code for a Seagate F3 family drive.

Unless I'm mistaken, the date code on the label (10496) doesn't match the date stamp in the CAP (03222014). How is that possible? If the drive were a refurbished unit, then surely it would get the latest firmware?

Code:

How did you drive behave before you changed PCB ? ( besides not being detected in BIOS )

If the rom is needed to be rebuilt, i can help, but this drive seems to have different problems.

digisupport wrote:How did you drive behave before you changed PCB ? ( besides not being detected in BIOS )

I did'n change the pcb .At first enter on a halt state, or BuSY state.when used terminal command m0,2,2,,,,,22 with TIAO USB JTAG Multi-Protocol Adapter (it has an usb to RX & TX convertor) windows gone to blue screen error mode and after that hard drive The total broke down.
I would like a little time to fix it,But not worth spending, it is a refurbished hard drive and it has not any data I did used it in a digital video recorder for security camera

pepe wrote:If the rom is needed to be rebuilt, i can help, but this drive seems to have different problems.

what you think about with this error?I am a professional repair camcorder and sometimes Unintentionally change data on flash
in camcorder and Just guessed maybe change data in spi flash.i have not any info about hard drive, why serial is J337 when serial in flash is 6VP42D4S in address 061644
thank you

The serial number reported via USB could be the serial number of the bridge hardware, not the S/N of the HDD.

Is the bridge IC a JMicron JM20337 or JM20338?

Can you show us the drive's SMART report?

Ah, he used an USB adapter... yeah, that could be a reason for that.
a direct sata connection would be better.
