The one pictured here probably will work (just be sure you get the right one), though the date is a bit further off than I'd normally shoot for:

This one will probably work too: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-TB-Western-Di ... SwpDdVT8tk

apparently there are 2 types (at least that i know of) of preamp rev. made around that time

Yes, but unless you find the drive on a site like donordrives.com and they actually have the preamp listed, you'll have no way to know which one you're getting until you've already bought it anyway.

Family Tahoe 2d has only one configuration.

You can use any:
WD10EALS-002BA0
WD10EAKS-007AA0
WD1001FALS-00E3A0
WD1002FAEX-00Z3A0
WD10EALS-00Z8A0

The only problem could be if some of the heads will have too high recording density compared with the density of the same head at the donor.
DCM does not need to look.

I've never come across these in the wild.

But probably you were referring to WD10EACS-007AA0 instead?
(even though the alphanumeric code after the hyphen didn't match with anything I was looking through)

syntaxerror,
at WD, and there are no such troubles.
I have not written everything
also Tahoe 2d

WD1001FALS-403AA0
WD1001AALS-00E3A0

And probably still is.
