If my hard drive is making this noise, what could it mean?

My drive spins up and then gets stuck in the beep-click loop. I'm asking any gurus if they have any ideas what the problem could be as I consider data recovery. Any help is much appreciated. :)

It means that it has pretty severe physical issues. Bad heads at least and quite probably media damage :-(

Okay thanks. Is this something I can fix myself with a donor drive?
