HTS545050A7E380 Clicking

December 2nd, 2015, 17:58

Hi, This Hitachi 500GB laptop drive is clicking. Single platter look perfect (on top).
Changed heads from perfect donor. Still clicking. Is there something in firmware
could cause this clicking?

Suggestions?

Thanks.

What happens if you put the heads back into the donor?

Causes of clicking Hitachi:
  • Bad Heads
  • Bad Media
  • Wrong PCB
  • Dirty PCB Contacts

Eliminate them one at a time.

Also can you better define "perfect donor". Not that I'm questioning your abilities, but this is your first post and a lot of people think the same model is all that's required.
