Hey Guys,

I have a Hard drive which I broke a few years back, recently I've been motivated to get all that data back since another failure.

In this instance I broke the SATA port by pushing it too far into my video card when installing... very depressing times.
As you may be able to see my friend tried soldering it onto a SATA sable.. his presumed skills were way under par.

I've found a PCB replacement near me on Ebay:

But apparently I need to swap the Bios chip?
Before I buy the part, does anyone know how to do this, and could I do the work myself?

Cheers.

If you were going to supply the board and media to copy data onto if you wanted that, then just the actual shipping cost back to you is all. Not a bad deal from the Canadian site either.
