Data Recovery Fail

December 30th, 2015, 22:49

Hi all, new to forums and thought I would ask this.

Had a HDD that was accidentally quick formatted, data was still on it using EaseUS DR. However, I made a stupid noob mistake and accidentally selected the recovered data to be written to the source (data recovered from the hard drive written to the same drive).

I know this likely destroyed the data I was trying to recover in the first place. At this point, are there any options I could try without breaking the bank, or is my data a lost cause?

Thanks

get another drive, go through the same process of recovery with something like R-Studio or GetDataBack and of course be extra sure of the destination. You may get something pack, and it may be worth the effort depending on what the data is.

I recommend R-Studio due to the obvious and proven active development, and the willingness for the company to listen to the customers and community. I like GetDataBack because of the interface, it is much more intuitive and I find R-Studio's not as easy to navigate, though it is extremely powerful and feature rich. . I don't see much recent dev in GDB though, but it still works great for me when the drive is working ok, and you don't need too much in the way of features, just looking for files in a raw image.

No-one is going to know the quality of recovery until they try and see :)
