Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

I have a Hitachi 2 TB HD internal
- HDS5c3020ALA632
(1) I would like to know if it is a good idea to replace the PCB? What troubleshooting should I be looking for?
- The drive cannot be discovered by the motherboard during POST
- The Drive is not making any crazy sounds
- I managed to boot to the drive once ... but it froze up
(2) Can I take the PCB off the bottom of the Hard Drive and get a part number to google?
(3) Any tips?
Thanks, Mike

The hard drive does spin up
When I boot via livecd and plug the drive in via usb ... it just keeps error'ing looking for the drive

If the drive spins up then it's 99% likely the PCB is OK, almost certainly a fw issue.

Sadly ... it is having trouble booting start up repair disk or livecd with consistency. I am gonna install liveUSB on my laptop and see if it is the motherboard.

It will do if it's got fw issues, doubt there's anything you can do DIY on this one
