Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

I have a RAID in for recovery with Hyper-V VM's. We have reconstructed the RAID so that part is done. My client is happy to get the .vhdx files and re-install in Window 2012 (I presume this is possible as he is confident it is). But is there a way to open .vhdx files in W7 or W8 in case a future client want the VM content?

Did it not work mounting from Disk/Computer Management through the Action drop-down menu?
By the way, mounting with read-only is always a must.
