Dead WD5000BMVV question

January 23rd, 2016, 13:40

I have a WD5000BMVV (direct microusb interface) that when plugged in, the LED flashes, but the disk does not spin up. So my question is it worth attempting to buy a replacement board for it? Or do these symptoms indicate it needs to be sent in for an invasive repair?

Thanks!

Does it try to spin up....if you put your ear near the drive do you hear any faint beep..beep?
If not you can try to buy a replacement board and swap the U12 chip.
