Samsung M201RAD (M9T) Terminal Output

January 27th, 2016, 20:10

This drives takes a while to get RDY but does get there. Composite reading of the modules give the same modules not read which makes me think its not a head issue. I can read individual sectors but cannot image the drive (translator issues). There are three critical modules that cannot be read:-
VLIST
SLIST
ALIST
(TLIST and MLIST both read okay)

Here is the terminal output. Comments would be welcomed.

Surface defects in the SA for sure. 1140 is UNC, so modules can't be loaded.

50/50 for some heads issue. At least during start-up mechanics doesn't feel good - excessive DiskSlip and few other parameters are above average.

Also I wouldn't leave this drive running without necessity. ATW Healing woke up and can exhaust the drive to a brick state.

It is not impossible to read the data on Samsungs with lost translator, but that requires quite some individual work with each drive.

Hey Dmitri (been skiing this year yet?)

I did eventually get the SA read. For some reason composite reading didn't work, but did get enough of the SA read eventually from other heads. Head 0 is failing.

Thanks for the help.

All's well that ends well.

And no matter how heavy the workload is, there's no way I will give up skiing :)
