Seagate NAS 6 Bay Pro Raid 5 Parameters?

June 1st, 2016, 6:48

I am about to rescue data from this NAS that went down after a power failure. All drives test ok so I will attempt a UFS 5 reconstruction. Drive order is known. Can anyone suggest Raid 5 parameters for this unit?

Thanks

Give me remote Linux access to the clones or images and I should be able to tell you.

Should any further assistance be necessary and just for future reference, I will also be happy to help with recoveries like this one remotely.
Although we usually do them in Windows.

I just connected in, showed him how to read the RAID meta data with mdadm. It is a lot easier to just read the RAID config, though it is likely that UFS would generate the RAID volume automatically, as well. But, this way I was also able to confirm that all the drives were last tagged online, too.

Yes, that's definitely an option, when there's a Linux machine on the other side and someone with at least a basic knowledge of Linux.
When not, I usually just look for that info manually.

And I also expected that UFS should pick the config automatically, but since despite that, this topic is here, decided to offer my help in case if there's some kind of damage and things won't work this way.
