Based on the video, is there a way I can fix this drive myself? What should be the steps to follow?

You drive is acting like dead heads, also you have open the drive in a non clean environment and you have contaminated the drive, if the data has value to you I will take it to a "DR pro" is not much you can do to recover this drive, will need special equipment, convert the USB board to SATA and good chance your drive is an SED "Self Encrypted Drive" http://www.indodatarecovery.com/ give them a call.....
