data recovery from Seagate Momentus 5400.6 500gb ST9500325AS

Hello, Everyone. this is my first post in the group.

Even one week ago the hard drive had no trouble. I never took backup, because I was always checking the hard drive health. Even one ago, the health was okey, no error. Suddenly it stopped working.

1. Not detecting in any OS, Tried XP, 7 , 8.1, 10, Gparted, Fedora, Mint, etc.
(Disk management, hardware scan, checked everywhere)
2. Detected by BIOS , size 0MB
3. s.m.a.r.t error : AHCI port 0 error

Status: I have also tried it using as a external drive. Bought a SATA-USB cable. Connected it to the Notebook also with another desktop. It get proper power (using dual USB cable) and keeps spinning like a normal hard drive. Makes sound like bugs eating woods inside furniture , not very loud, in low pitch.
However, when the hdd was functional, even then it was making similar noise.

After reading lots of internet and forum post, I've thought about some solution.

1. Upgrading of Firmware, which is a very complex process (fmw is not available at Seagate Website, will check with ASUS, as the warranty expires a long time ago, dunno how ASUS will react, as it's a ASUS OEM PC, ASUS k50in model). I even don't know the firmware model. The device is not detecting, how to know the firmware model !!

2. Open the hdd and looks for head displacement and may be fix it !!!

3. Do or Die Soln. Freezing it like old times. (Which I don't want to do :( ) I don't care about the HDD, need the data's.

Experts , please suggests. Thanks in advance.

Do NOT do any of the above.

IMHO it's not gonna be DIY, but if you want to you can purchase a serial adaptor and connect to serial port of the HDD and check the output to see if there's any useful error messages.

Search this forum for more info.

It is however STRONGLY advise to seek pro assistance from a proper data recovery company if the data is at all valuable to you.

+1.

If you do any of the 3 ideas you're suggesting, the end result will be this: You without your data and with a botched drive.
