ST1000LM025 replace parts

August 4th, 2016, 11:10

Hello, ive got a broken hdd, model: ST1000LM025. Im looking for the new disk, same model, to collect parts from inside and replace it in old drive. I know i shouldn open hard drive at home but its my last shot to recover a bit of data from old disk (in 7 out od 10 times, it works so why not now). Unfortunetally in my country (Poland ) I cant find any disk with same model, only ST1000LM024. So my question is: Are those disk similar to each other so i can use some parts of ST1000LM024 into my ST1000LM025 or should i keep looking for exacly ST1000LM025 model?

Suggest to rather focus more on the HDD P/N for compatibility.

Also, I doubt that 7 out of 10 times works, especially for this family model drives, without proper tools. There are other parameters to match beside the model, which are not written on the label. So, this will decrease the chances of successfully finding a donor.

Search the forum and read and you will understand better.

i convert ST1000LM025 to ST1000LM024 with chip transfer.

ST1000LM025 is a direct usb drive.
it has a poor jack. it's very easy to break.
