Clicking Toshiba MK5061GSYN

August 16th, 2016, 13:12

Hi,

I have a clicking MK5061GSYN on my Desk. The drive spins up, but then starts clicking. The Customer said, that he moved his notebook, then he got a BSOD and after a restart the drive started to click.

The drive clicks several times then the clicking stops, while the drive keeps spinning. But the whole time, the drive is in the Busy state.

I opened the drive in a clean room, but couldn't see any obvious damage of the heads. Currently I have no donor drive for a head swap. But is there a way to analyze, what had is damaged and get the data from working heads?

I have PC3k.
