Head - Write, but Not Read - dilemma

August 23rd, 2016, 16:33

If I head writes, and does not read then it is damaged?
Head writes speed perfect, but Not read anything.
Is firmware modules may also be responsible for the lack of reading from the head, or Adaptive?

The head consists of a read element and a write element. AISI, the read element must be working to some extent in order to able to seek to the target track, otherwise writing would not be possible. Since the servo information is recorded at a much lower frequency than data, I expect that it would be possible for a weak head to track correctly but fail to read data. I guess that some strange fault in the read channel logic of the MCU might also produce such a symptom.

Because you know, still is working on WD Black 2002FAEX and I have a suspicion, you still Firmware is still damaged.
Because, head 0,2,3,4,5,6,7 write and read Ok, while the Head 1 Write but I can not read, what's more, calibration tests this head pass correctly without Servo error.
therefore I have a suspicion that sometimes the firmware is damaged (entries in modules)
In SMART parameter 01 is 0, at the damaged head certainly would show the value of reading errors.

I can't see this as a read channel problem, so it is either a bad head or some screw-up in the firmware. That said, I can't imagine how the firmware could cause such a problem, either.

Believe you that it can. On another Firmware, which is theoretically compatible with my Firmware. no head can not read,

If you are able to read modules, than heads perform reading (at least in SA) , something wrong elsewhere.

Yes, I can read all modules. Head 1 read write perfect. Well, yes I think problem is again in modules FW.

Well, i think that's found problem why head 1 Write perfect in user area but not read everything. Zone table in head 1 is incorrect. and that's why suspect Write Ok, but not read, and Maybe Firmware modules are incorrect again.
