Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

I have a client that re-partitioned a 4 Tb hard drive that was used with OS X (HFS). I am able to recover data from this drive but I am not able to get the folder structure or the file names. I have tried scanning the drive with R-Studio for Mac, Stellar Phoenix for Mac, and Data Rescue. All I can get is a file type recovery using these 3 programs. I also tried scanning the drive with CnW on my PC workstation but the program crashes when the program attempts to scan the lost partition.
Anybody out there have any ideas how I could possibly recovery the file names and folder structure?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Is not possible to recover the directory structure ones you reformatted and HFS drive, it overwrites the catalog, just RAW recovery possible IMHO

That's what I thought. I just figured I would ask in case somebody knew some trick for doing this that I was not aware of.
Thank you for the reply.
