SAMSUNG HDJ103UJ 1Go Sata

September 23rd, 2016, 4:53

Hi there
I switched the power supply beetwenn EEEPc and Nas
No smoke, nothing else but Led alert in front of it
Since, I couldn't start my nas anymore unless I remove the HDD inside
So I think there's a serious short on it .
On the PCB nothing seems to be burned, no diode nothing,
I read on many thread there could be a power Diode protection somewhere
here is a pic of mine
I would appreciate to avoid spending many Euro if I could fix the problem myself just to copy my data.
thanks

first measure diodes on left bottom side of your drive.

but first of all, think how important are data for you.

If I understand you, that you can turn on NAS without drive.

check things mr zabkar post it to you
if you are not familiar with electronics, ask someone
if one or both diodes are in short, then the best way(safe) is to replace them with good one
not so safe way to just remove damaged diode/s

but you need to know, that there isreason why this happened.
and with DIY you risk with your data

ok i check the diodes
the 12v diode seems to be in short, both side of testing give the same result, short ( zero resistance )
the 5v diode seems to be ok, give me no short ( resistences are different depending of the side )

could the 12v diode short give me the problem on my NAS ( I repeat it can not start with the HDD plugged, it can start without the HDD ans when I replug the HDD in hot, the NAS switch immediately Off )

I would just backup my data and then buy a new HDD

thanks to help me all :P

Yes it could. Remove shorted diode and try to connect drive without it.

Before plugging in the NAS, I would make sure that the 12V supply is within spec.

hi there,
so I want to tell you some words

After the posts from Fzabkar and jerovzek, I decide to remove the 12V diode from the PCB card ( see pic )

IMG_3227.JPG

I used the Dremel tool to cut one of the side on this Diode

I pray so hard when I replugged the Hdd in the NAS , and OOOOH miracle the NAS turned on with the defect HDD inside !!

but, the reading head maked a incredible sound .. clic clic clic...

so I decide to hit gently all sides af the HDD and Swith on-off-on-offf... the NAS many time until it FINALLY RESTART ONCE !!!!!!!!!!!

so I hurry save back all data I need safely,
it still run well for the moment but I don't want to use it anymore

so, THANKS THANKS THANKS you AAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

  :) :D :D

We are so happy at home to see your pics again

bests regards from France

Keep it on dudes you are famous

bye
