Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Here's the short story.
Had to do a hard reboot of my computer because a game crash froze the screen.
When I rebooted, my 2gb Seagate Baracuda didn't detect. So I checked in BIOS. No mas.
I tried it in two other computers. Does not detect and doesn't seem to spin.
Wondering what's wrong with it and how salvageable is it? I'm willing to get a new board if it'll work as the board'll be cheaper than the drive.

If it doesn't spin, then it is most likely a PCB fault.
Check the TVS diodes and look for damaged chips.
A PCB swap plus firmware transfer should cost you US$50 or less.
