External HDD repair

November 2nd, 2016, 23:53

Hi,

While trying to repair external hard disk with HDD Regenerator, it says "connect external hard drive as internal". How to do it without removing the case ? I do not want to remove the case as warranty is still there. I want to retrieve the data myself as the cost of data retrieval is equal to the cost of a new external HDD.

You are almost certainly totally wasting your time.

Trying to "recover" data with hdd regenerator is like trying to cure a headache with a hammer, it will only make it worse.

So you say, no hammer in the first aid kit in Prague?

Don't run hdd regenerator, do a clone of the drive with DD-Rescue or similar, then retrive your files from the clone...is the external drive a WD?

If you swing that hammer hard enough the headache will go away. :D

Just like if you run HDD Regenerator long enough your need to pay for data recovery will go away. Because in both cases death will result.
