Samsung Dead ?

November 18th, 2016, 11:13

Hi all and thanks in advance for all the help i hope to receve :D
I have a Samsung HD502HI witch i gave to a mate to take some photos off and he somehow managed to plug the wrong power supply in to the drive.
He said there was a small crack sound and the drive gave up.
I took the drive home and when i plugged the drive in to my computer , my computer turned off.
i took the drive out of its case and try,d to put it directly in to the computer but the computer would not even power up.
I am sure it is the PCB because i have a matching drive so i swaped the PCB and my computer fired up and the disk turns
The HD is not reconised in the bios or windows but i can find it in Disk management and with a RAW file system.
here are some photos sorry about the quality.
Can anyone tell me if this PCB is repareable or do i need to change the ROM. On this drive i think the ROM is inbedded with the IC Controler but i maybe wrong. I have most of the data backed up but i still need to get some important files off this drive.
If you need better photos let me know and i will get out my trusty camera :D
Anyway thanks in advance for all you advice.
