Hi there. I hve been running the above mentioned drive for about a year and a half, and it has stopped responding to my Linux File server, but the drive still appears to be "alive" to LVM. I am trying to connect a TTL adapter to the drive to see what diagnostics I can obtain.
I purchased a CP2102 TTL adapter from eBay:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/130683943875?_tr ... EBIDX%3AITWhen I connect the TTL adapter to the drive, I get nothing back through PuTTY, double checked all settings, and tried both 19200 and 38400, 8N1 No F/C. When I measure ground to TX on the drive side of things, I get 1.78v back.
I have seen a few posts on needing to make a mod to get the adapter produce 1.8v, but those were all serial mods. Would I just do the same mod on my TTL adapter? 22k or so from 3.3v to TX pin, and then diode from TX pin to line to drive?..
I just want to make sure I am taking the right approach before I break out the soldering iron.
Thanks!
Richard.
