Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

About a month ago I bought a new hard drive for my pc. I never really used it because I used my pc for gaming it put the games on my ssd, but I put 2 games on there and the next day they are gone. In fact the hard drive had disappeared from my file explorer page, but if I went to Disk Management I see it there with ~55gbs (a little more than both of the games combined) of stuff on it. But whenever I open it nothing is there (Yes I do have hidden files shown), and I can't play it from steam because I have to reinstall it.
What I want to know:
- Can I still use the HDD?
- Can I get the files back that were on the HDD?
- Do I need to get a new HDD?
