Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

I have a Hitachi 1TB HDD and I damaged the cover while removing it. I made a short video of the trouble it's having, and I ran the HDD with that cover off, probably a wrong thing to do, but it's done.
Can data from a drive like this be recovered?

You haven't done it any favours by running it like that with the cover off!
A DR place might give it a go but it will be expensive considering what has been done to it, I'm sure there would be media (platter) damage after watching that video.
