Hi,
I'm looking for a head unstick tools for a Seagate Momentus ST2000LM003. It is a 2.5" with 4 heads and 3 platters, and I couldn't find anything from ER tools or from HDD surgery. Would the ER tools Freeplay one work on this drive?

Maybe its not a Seagate drive....

I don't know whether the
Ace Tool Lab Freeplay unstuck tool would work or not, but thought you should be aware of their set or unstuck tools.

I would like a picture of the 4 head, 3 platter drive. That's quite rare...

Most likely you could had unstuck those heads without even opening the lid of the drive .... Works well on Samsung ....
Maybe without tools, but definitely need to open the lid.
"Percussive maintenance" very risky on this model.
Need to examine the unstuck heads under a microscope before considering using.
IMHO of course.

With tools you have a better chance of saving the heads. Without tools its a gamble.

In my experience 'head unsticking tools' cause more damage to patient heads than just rotating platters and moving heads back onto ramp with the right technique. But that's just me.

What is usually the issue you end up having?

@Mikippp, that link is to a head swap ramp tool, not an unstuck tool. Do they really have unstuck tools?

They lift the end of the head assembly up whilst the sliders are stuck to the platters, often damaging them as they lift. A simple anti-clockwise platter turn whilst moving heads back to the ramp works just fine.
