Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hello,
I have an old HDD that I can't access.
I have it connected via USB SATA adapter.
I can see it in disk management.
And in safe mode, It appears under windows explorer.
When I try to open it, I get the error:
Please insert a disk into removable disk
Can you guys help me out?
I tried Recuva, but it can't open it.
I tried right clicking on it, and using the error-checking tool, but it said that windows can't find the drive.
Thanks

First, connect it directly to a sata port in the computer, and see what it informs.

That did the trick.
That's the first thing I should have done.
Sorry for wasting your time.
