QNAP RAID Recovery

January 15th, 2017, 6:23

Background History as Client Stated:
1. It's RAID 6 with 4 drives
2. 1st and 2nd drive died, they replaced one by one and things were fine.

Next day, the remaining 2 drives also died and they placed new 2 drives and no more data!

During discussion, we said, we don't need 1st and 2nd drive as those are not required. they sent us 4 drives that were connected before the crash.

They didn't provide us drive sequence information, they messed up the sequences.

Existing Story after we received:
1. We found 3 drives in fully working condition
2. One drive found non-working, and we have cloned it.

4TB * 4 Drives

I don't find RAID parameters for the case. If anyone can help would be highly appreciated.

First time they've been replacing drives one by one, but the next day put two drives at once?

Unsure why you didn't ask for all the drives, but if I got the description correctly, the client sent proper set of drives (doesn't matter by mistake or not). Although I'd be asking for all the drives anyway.

If having all the drives you can't find the parameters, then probably the config got messed up somehow.

If necessary, I can look into this job remotely as well.
