the unthinkable happened whilst backing up recent work to my cloud, karma maybe? ive been a good lad now my hard drive is damaged with top dogs saying they cant help i've seen some videos where they read around the damaged parts i mean if i could get some bits back i would be so happy, i've even thought crazy ideas to learn computer science and quantum physics to come up with a magnetic spray that allows temporary reading of platters where damaged, i know im talking crazy but in 2017 i need to hear a solution to this problem can anyone help or point me to right direction as i have important videos on there 90% of it is backed up on my 4tb that doesnt move its just the new bits i need badly

Who open their drives watching youtube videos are in trouble ,This is due to the fact that physical recovery of hard drives is not a joke and it requires a lot of experience .This HDD seems to be made of glass platter magnetically coated on both side .I can clearly see the bottom of the HDA ,There is a technique to recover such kind of a issue but it requires

1 : Cleaning of the entire platter
2 : Making Sure Head Never Reaches That Ring

PS : This will make you recover data from outer zone to the place before the ring .

Then there is a technique to recover the zone from the ring to the innermost track .This Requires the following

1 : Cleaning Of Platters
2 : Starting The Drive " Initialising it To ready state
3 : Gliding past that ring "How ? Do not ask ,possibly yes"
4 : Reading The inner zone from ring to motor spindle

PS : This will recover data from ring to inner zone

PS1 : Then Reconstruct the image and recover what ever you can .The Current issue with this technique is that in this series The Firmware is locked and until there is a way out these techniques cannot be applied .My Research in Physical work is good but not in firmware .I have Zero issues in firmware of normal drives but i do have issues with firmware in seagate family ,Specially the locked drives .But I know some of my seniors here who are brilliant in seagate locked firmware and i am sure if you pay them good they can recover using the technique i am discussing .Very Soon i will be offering some advanced physical recovery work in india to my indian clients with some amazing results ,I am researching these since months now

Speak To a Guy Like Pepe Sir And Doomer ,Scratchy ,Etc Who Can Unlock This Drives Firmware ,I am Sure They Can Do All That i Said Above .I For Sure Do Not Have the Knowledge How To Unlock These Series ,Once i get a Tool That Can Do This I Can Recover For Sure .

When looking at the photo and zooming in, you can see that there is more damage than the big thing ring etched in, suggesting that this drive is toast.

I've been thinking of a way to do this and asked others what they think. The consensus is that there is a zero chance of recovery. The 2 tb version has two platters and 4 heads. A single platter version would have had 99% chance of failure because of the extent of the damage. The two platter versions bring extra problems making the situation worse. If you want to send it to me for analysis, I will do initial diagnosis at no charge, but that will involve visual and microscopic examination only.

I think the diagnosis will confirm what we already think, but I would like to see how deep that score is. Look at www.mjm.co.uk for info

i think the 4 figure number is pretty much appropriate for such recovery in any currency.
there is chance if the bottom platter does not look like the top one. I would not declare the data physically unrecoverable if the SA was not available (transfered to the filter) but it economically it would be unrecorverable indeed.

How would you be able to recover from a scored platter like this? If given time, can technology catch up and perhaps one day recover something like this? How crucial is the SA?

i have recovered data from Moose (as far as i can recall the family) where SA was completely unreadable. But it took a lot of time. In this case i have doubts about the condition of the data on the not visually damaged areas, there are probably a lot of bad spots which can make the recovered data useless, so it might not be worth anyway.
