ST1000DM003 FW CC44 only recognized 4GB

May 29th, 2018, 8:58

Hello
I have a disk seagate st1000dm003 firmware cc44 that as a result of an electrical failure is recognized as only 4gb (it turns on normal, no strange noises, the bios like windows recognize it)
I think it may be the damaged firmware
Where can I find it and how to proceed?

Start by getting a terminal connection to the drive, and post the resulting log here.

Thank you for your attention.
The problem occurred when the ups failed in full installation of windows.
When restarting it appeared as a 4 GB disk. there is no visible damage to the pcb.
if I want to recover the data (it contains 700gb of technical information accumulated in years) but the option of sending it to a specialized company is not available in my country (I live in Cuba) and for the same reason it is not possible to consult Seagate. I have some experience repairing discs (I'm a hardware technician) but I have not found the firmware of this disc on the web

This is not a router where shutting down unexpectdly would corrupt the firmware with the fix being just a firmware upgrade away.

Can you get a terminal log ? That may give more information about what is happening with the disk.

Also, you may try contacting @Don Oleg from this forum, he is in Havana, I believe.

You have to swap the controller from your PCB to an identical matching production dates too preferably. To me, it sounds like some sort of issue with a translator.
