CALYPSO vs Newbie :)

Hi. Ive got MAXtor Diamond max 9 160Gb 6Y160P0 042211 S/N Y427C3NE, Detected as calypso. Also downloaded LDR , RAM and RPMs for the same model Firmware YAR41VW0 (mine YAR41BWO). I dont know how to load these files to mine HDD , and should I even try if the firmwares are not the same?? Thanks in advance for help

I wold in any case!!
The HDD is damaged, so you have nothing to loose!
And a second thing: I have changed PCB on a DiamonMax Plus 9 (PCB from 80 GB to 120 GB version). Thy had different Versions too (and not only!!!), and the disk works fine (now even for some months in my server!)
Where did you get the ROM ? (I need one, you know! (But for an other disk
))

http://www.maxtor-hdd.narod.ru - here is some stuff for maxtors. Please , could you give me some clue how to load these files into my damaged disk ?? Links, Pages, FAQ's, anything

To uplad the firmware, ram, etc you have to have a speciall board called PC3000. it coast 1000 usd

Hi!
I've found a board emulator for PC3000, you can attach the HDD on one of the IDE chanels and work with it (at least they say you can), don't get me wrong, I'm of the opignon that if you need a software, you should buy it, but for one single disk, I belive, it might also be okay to use the emulator! I have not tested this, but it might help. Does anybody know if the emulator works ?

Someone here knows or have any ideia of what I can do or in what place I can find some money to pay my bills ?
Because éverytime that I come here I start to feel that this hard disks business is not gonna for long, so I need to find another way to get some money - you know I`m to dam old and lazy to learn a new thing to do.

I think that my 3 decades almost 4 in Computers business, is nothing... really.
Bigger and better.... like in ?
Bigger... the computer market has a number that is not compatible with the number of the jobs that apears, anyway ........
The Internet has now all answers, this is what everybody is saying......
Everyday has a new end user here and in others boards, all them asking for free help .....
Maybe I have no ideia of what is this business..... who knows ? I don't know....
Many questions, I'm doing progress... people is looking for answers... and I still look for the fu... questions.

no problem got one question about pc3000. does it run with daimond max 9 wit ARDENT chip onboard? if yes which one pcmx_dsp or pkr??

The EMULATOR works and I was able to load PC3000. Problem is: the submenus are in Russian. Anybody knows the link to the English Version of PC3000 v14?
