7200.11 and 7200.12 head swaping

July 10th, 2018, 1:43

Hi everyone,

I was curious if anyone has any info regarding head swaps on Pharoah, Brinks, Moose, etc type drives of the 7200.11 and 7200.12 variety. I am beating my head against the wall and have little to show for it. I have tried moving adaptives with the PC3K, starting over and doing it all again, and everything that I can think of. I have no problems removing the heads and placing them back in the drive.

For testing purpose I have two moose drives

ST3750330AS
PBX156-303

Same date code and matching preamp.

I pulled the heads out and put them back in with no problems, I transfer the heads and get a constant recalibration sound, 11 times. I am not sure what I am missing here, any advice on where to look next?

What tools are you using for head swap ?
Have you tried to mount heads back on donor drive? Does donor drive work again or not?
Are you working in a clean bench?

If you have done everything properly, very likely patient drive has scratchs on SA.
