Hi.
I changed the controller to the HDD with a SATA.
The HDD enters the busy state.
If I deactivate the module 411 I have access to the SA without problems.
I have resolved slow response.
When I activate the module 411 again, it enters BUSY.
I put a copy of the ROM.
Any ideas. Thank you.

It gives a reading error in a sector of the module 0x21 and another of the module 0x31 of the head 1.
The SA of the head 0 reads it correctly.
There is an error in reading tracks:
Read Track error C / H / S: -246/1/965

I do not know what the function of mod 411 is.
It is a microcode module and if it is disabled in the ROM it prevents the hDD from reading the module 411 and having access to the SA.
I put a copy of this module (ORGINAL and DONOR, although they are the same).
When the module 411 is deactivated, part of the firmware is loaded, but the module 0x21,0x31,0x34, etc. seems to be not loaded.

It does not let me format tracks of the SA or write modules in HEAD 1.
When reading the SA in the head 1 gave failures.
I format the sa of the head 2 and I record the tracks of the SA of the copy 0.
In the ROM (0B / 2B) I modify the ABA range so that the second value points to the copy I made with the head 2.
I activate the 411 and it detects everything correct but as it is expected the head 1 is weak and it reads very slowly and with some defective sectors.
I make a copy of everything I can and then I'll change the heads
I correct, the heads are fine, it is the surface of the disk of the head 1. I do not change heads.

I don't understand the MRT screenshot. It shows module 0x411 at ROM address 0x3F03E with a size of 0xD0 bytes. That's module 0x0D, not 0x411. :?

Module 0x411 appears to consist of several components, each of which is loaded into a separate area of RAM.

This screen capture occurs when the 0x411 module is deactivated.
The MRT shows that there is a 0x411 module in the ROM. But that is not correct, it happens due to the fact of deactivating in the ROM the access to the module 0x411, I do not know the reason.
It would be interesting to know what implementations the 0x411 module performs, I suppose they have removed part of the 0x11 module to make it lighter and better manage the RAM (It's a guess, I have no idea).
I did a test in case it was a problem of the load of the translator and modify the size directly in the module of directions, and since from one direction they were all zeros the checksum remained the same and I loaded it in the RAM with the new size .
When I finish copying data I will make the test to point the 2 ABA of the head 1 and 2 towards the same address in the head 1 and if it works, when a HDD of these has a bad copy of the SA, it could be solved simply by changing the address of the ABA.

By pointing the two directions of ABA towards the same copy of the SA the HDD also works well.

That's an interesting trick. It would suggest that disabling a particular SA module could be achieved by renaming ROM module 0Dh. I wonder if this trick works for other modules?

@mhp666, is your drive a SED? Could you upload module 02h? This module has a SED flag.
I'm wondering if we could patch module 02 into a spare area of the ROM and then edit 0B/20B to point to it. We could switch off the SED flag and then see if the drive starts normally, with SA access enabled.
If this works, then we might find other uses for this technique.

I had to read about 6000 sectors of the disk that I could not read.
I have reduced small vibrations to the disk, and possibly the heads have come closer to the data and read them very quickly.
The needles from 10% of the disc already read well and fast.
Does anyone know why this happens. Heads or surface?
I know it is not very orthodox, but when I had almost 100% of the data and decided to try it.

I've found you don't need to worry about microjogs for this model, just match the TJ or T2 or VJ in the DCM on the label and the heads should be compatible.
