Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hello everybody
I have an external USB 3.0 Toshiba drive 1 TB MQ04UBF100 with PCB G4330A.
Customer said he drop it. The drive is clicking and not recognized (not even by Disk management).
We went ahead and replace the PCB for a SATA compatible G4311A (thanks to you guys!)
The ROM chip was also replaced.
We also got an exact match for a donor drive (an external USB 3.0 Toshiba drive 1 TB MQ04UBF100 with PCB G4330A) for head replacement.-
The hard drive doesn't click anymore, the MRT application recognize it (with a Little struggle), but we get the ID, FW, etc.
But, can't image the drive, everything just time out, and the speed stays at N/A.
We performed a head map, and the process finishes ok.
We were 2 days with MRT tech trying to solve this issue with no results.
He, then recommend coming to you guys, to see if there is something we can do to recover this drive's data.
Looking forward to your comments,
Louis.

Probably glist damage.
I dunno about MRT, but in PC3K we can use a software translator.

Would it help to disable ARRE mode in terminal (SP command)?
Could we see the GList?

I worked on a similar drive MQ04UBD200.
It's not yet supported in pc3000. Techno ON ok. Can acess modules.
But when reading G-list don't get the usual GL.... header.
Because G-list is in diffrent format, cannot use Virtual Translator on these new models.
P-list seems the same format and can open and edit in editor.
I attached g-list as read from patient and donor.

hi pc guard.
if MRT person checked last 2days, it means he already checked all firmware.
1. do you have all modules backup?
2. pls. upload a small video clip of imaging process.
3. put donor heads for donor hard and check what is happening.
4. if you can use selective head what is happening when select another head.
5. just change original pcb for paitent and connect with usb and check with winhex or othere.

Use the reading through the mrtlab utility.
You have to deactivate tech on.
Then when you have the virtual translator created, you can go from PIO to ULTRA ATA and you should read it quickly.
If you have active techon the data you read may be wrong.

Both lists look empty. Were there any reaollocated or pending sectors in the SMART report?
